Episodes 6 and 7 Write-Ups!

Hey there, fans!  Episodes 6 and 7 are now out and I think that these are our best episodes yet.  The addition of BUM DH has really helped make a positive difference to our series.  With that, let's dive in and talk about them.

Episode 6 was a big one for us.  Since this was the episode with the Rocket Grunts, it was important that all 4 of us were there to record.  Luckily, we all were able to make it.  We start with Gold approaching the first Grunt blocking the Slowpoke Well.  Since I was already doing Gold's voice, I decided to make the Grunt sound like Rex from Napoleon Dynamite so they wouldn't sound similar at all.  Boy, after a while, my throat was sore as hell.  When Gold finally listenes to the first Grunt, he finally arrives to Azalea Town.  Immediately we get the sense that something fishy is going on since a woman notices that the Slowpoke are missing and another Grunt acts very suspiciously.  Since Gold is theoretically still a little kid, he would pretend to be a detective and try to solve this mysterious mystery.  This little gag was inspired by Ash doing a similar thing in one of the anime's first season episodes.  Once he gets to Ol' Kurt's place, he spoils it for our hero and tells us that the suspicious looking official person guys are, in fact, Team Rocket!  He goes off and tries to stop them but hurts his back in the process.  From here, Gold battles "Rex Kwon Do" Rocket, "Jessie" Rocket, "Squidward" Rocket, and "AHHNOLD" Rocket.  After a few setbacks in each battle, Gold comes out victorious and helps get rid of Team Rocket.  Kurt then gives Gold a lure ball and reminds him that he'll always be there for him should he want some more balls in the future.  Then, we get something that I had been thinking about for the longest time, which was giving Fat Guy a real name.  Thus, we find out the truth behind the story of the guy who is fat.  It turns out that Fat Guy's real name is Carl Wheezing!  We though this name would fit him the most because, much like Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron, he is fat, caring, friendly, and has an unhealthy obsession with something (with Pokemon Black and White to Wheezer's obsession with llamas).  Unfortunately for Carl, the story behind the guy who is fat's parents may never be told.

Episode 7 was another big one.  Gold was now able to enter the second gym and challenge the gym leader.  After getting past the twins and two bug catchers with no problem, he reaches Bugsy.  To be honest with you guys, it had been a really long time since I actually played the second generation games so I was shocked to re-discover that the second gym leader was named Bugsy.  This made me laugh so hard since the Red Squirtle Squad actually had a character named Bugsy in their series.  So, it was only right that we have Alex voice Bugsy (since he kind of owed us for not being able to voice Oak for us in the first episode, don't tell him I told you that).  Thanks again to Alex and Taco Man for lending their voices to us, we really appreciate it.  Gold defeats Bugsy and earns his second badge.  Bugsy is defeated and pretty much doesn't earn respect.  To quote the late great Rodney Dangerfield (kind of), "he gets no respect at all!  No respect!"  That was the incentive for the title of the episode.  Then, as if the gym battle was enough, Silver appears and challenges Gold again to a battle.  This battle was pretty hard fought compared to their first encounter.  It's also the first time Gold was close to losing his first battle.  It also reveals the first secret of many of Gold:  He can speak Spanish!  O.o...

As for the second installment of Silver's Monologue Adventures, it was not scripted.  Draftmaster just hit the record button and began making it happen off the top of his head, with me filling in for the characters he was not the voice of.  Silver encounters the Farfetch'd in the Ilex Forest and fails to capture it three times.  A lot more epic than the first installment, to say the least.

That's pretty much it!  As for the next episodes, I'm going to predict that we'll have one done around spring break time.  Until then, enjoy these episodes, keep up the support and spread the word about our series!

Happy New Year! ...And other news!

Happy New Year, FireGold fanatics!   As 2012 kicks off, we bring along some important news!

This past week, the Red Squirtle Squad came in contact with us and they presented an idea to do a crossover episode with them!  Being big fans of theirs (as I'm sure a lot of you are, as well), it was an honor to do this episode with them.  We came up with the episode in only a few hours.  It's pretty self-explanatory as far as the plot goes...or is it?  How, exactly, do they end up in America?  Hmm....funny story, as Brock says.  One thing that cracks me up in this one is how obvious our microphone quality differs from theirs.  This will probably be the last time I use this microphone I got a while back since you couldn't really hear what I said unless you turned the volume up.  A pretty awesome episode nonetheless.  Thanks again to the Red Squirtle Squad for giving us the opportunity to do this!

Now, onto our own series.  If things aren't too hectic, we should begin recording Episode 6 in a matter of days.  We will try to have it ready for you before the next semester of college begins.

Until then, blog you all later!
