Holy Miltank! The Episode 9 Write-Up!

Hello, everyone!  Episode 9 is out, which means that it's time for another write-up!

We begin with Gold receiving some tips on battling Whitney by the Tipster Nerd.  Being the arrogant little kid that he is, he ignores the tips.  He easily avoids a Lass on his way to battling Lass Carrie.  This is where we begin to realize that Gold may have bit off more than he can chew.  Once he defeats Carrie, he avoids another Lass and reaches Whitney.  I remember battling Whitney on the classic games and how much of a pain it was to defeat her, especially if I chose Cyndaquil as my starter (which was 99.5% of the time).  Also, Ash lost to Whitney before defeating her in the anime.  These things helped inspire the idea of having Gold lose more than once.  With the help of his Pokemon, Gold remembers that the Sages at the Sprout Tower's top floor broke the rules and he decides to do so himself.  Surprisingly, Whitney allows him to do so.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work out for our hero the first time around.  Then, with Quilava's help, he remembers about the Drowzee he encountered close to Goldenrod and catches one after two very long and painful hours.  This is why I didn't have Gold run away from the Drowzee battle after running away from the Youngster battle in Episode 8.  Now, with Drowzee at his disposal, Gold puts the Miltank to sleep and lets his faithful Pokemon unleash the assault of a lifetime on the defenseless cow.  Whitney cries like a little kid just like in the games.  Only, it was kind of justified since she witnessed her beloved Miltank get killed...I guess.  Fat Carl then appears and decides to cook the dead cow carcass in front of Whitney, which leads to Whitney swearing like crazy.  I cringe a bit when I hear that back because my throat and chest were SO sore after recording that, haha.  DM came up with the idea of having Carl cook the dead cow carcass.  After a good meal, Gold ditches him in vintage fashion.  It looks like Carl will have to wait even longer to find out about his long lost parents...

Oh, what's that?  When is the next episode coming out?  Hmm...well, it's highly likely that not for a while.  Late November and early December are the most crucial parts of the Fall semester.  Also, DM is expected to be very busy during the month of December.  So, earliest I can tell is January...but, it's not certain just yet.  I'll be sure to update you all as we plow through the rest of 2012.

Lastly, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are very thankful for all of your support.  You guys are awesome.  Thank you so much, and have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Yup, that's about it!  Hope you all enjoyed the episode and I'll blog you all later!

Halloween Episodes + Update!

Hello, everyone!  Hope you all enjoyed the Halloween episodes!  It was really fun making them.  Let's dive in to them!

For Lost Halloween, it was about that time again for Gold to fly back to New Bark to celebrate another once-a-year occasion.  Something you may or may not have noticed is that the gag involving Elm's Assistant buying the wrong decorations is the opposite occurrence of what the Assistant did in the Christmas special.  When will Elm get a better Assistant?  We may never know.  Gold goes to his room and we hear that he has quite the costume collection.  If only I had a Bloody Gir suit...and a regular green Gir doggie suit.  Did any of you catch the referenced television shows Gold watched?  If not, the shows were Pokemon (original anime), Spongebob, and Invader Zim.  Once we get into Gold's dream, everything is based on the Pokemon Creepypasta called "Lost Silver."  If you'd like to hear and read the story, I recommend you hear VoiceOvaGuy's (that's his channel name) narration of the story on YouTube.  He really is quite good.  Or, you can watch Draftmaster and I's playthrough of the game based on the story on our YouTube channel!  Fat Carl wakes up Gold and does the Peanut Butter Jelly Time dance.  As you probably realized, this is precisely why I had Gold have a banana suit in his collection.

While Draftmaster and I were coming up with ideas of what to do for a Halloween special, he wanted to do a Silver version as well as the Gold version.  Luckily for us, the Pokemon Creepypasta called "Tarnished Gold" is Silver's story...sort of...maybe.  Since we were going to release these two consecutively, I knew I had to include something that coincided with Lost Halloween.  Therefore, we find out that it was Silver who stole Gold's Bloody Gir suit, not Gold's mother.  While running around an area with trees, he hits his head on the Sudowoodo blocking the path to the next city.  Once again, everything in Silver's dream was based on "Tarnished."  VoiceOvaGuy has also narrated "Tarnished Gold" for those who wanted to hear and read the Creepypasta.  Looks like Silver learned to be a little nicer to his Pokemon after such a dream.  Special thanks to Alex from the Red Squirtle Squad for voicing Giovanni for us!

Now, onto the update!  We have the majority of Episode 9 recorded!  Once we record the last few lines, we'll try to release the episode by Thanksgiving time!

And, yeah!  That's about it!  Thanks again for your support and I'll catch ya all later!

Episode 8 Write-Up + News!

Hey there, FireGold fanatics!  I'm pretty sure 99.5% of you are expecting a write-up on the latest episode so, here it is!

The episode begins with the events that happen as soon as Gold defeats Silver in the original games.  Once we got to the Farfetch'd chase sequence, we knew we had to include something out of the ordinary in it.  Originally, we were going to have the song "Push It to The Limit" from the Scarface film (8-bit) playing in the background during the chase.  However, I came across the "Breakfast Machine" theme from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and felt it would work better in a chase sequence environment, resulting in me using that song in 8-bit instead.  Gold succeeds and gets his second HM, HM01!  Once he makes it out of the forest, it turns out there's yet another spinning around trainer and, surprisingly, fails to avoid him.  However, Gold leaves anyway at the beginning of the battle, even though it's supposedly against DA RULES of the Official Pokemon Battle Sequence Manual Guide.  Honestly, after battling so many Rattata beforehand, I probably would've done the same thing.  Gold then runs into a Drowzee and threatens to kill his Quilava on the way to defeating it.  Why didn't Gold just run away after running away from the Youngster battle?  Well, you'll find out the answer soon enough.  Finally, Gold arrives to the next city and, as usual, misinterprets the name.  I wonder if Violet the Random B**ch will ever leave Gold alone.  Once Gold reaches the city, we felt it was best to bring up some of the places you can enter in the game before Gold heads to the next gym, including the Game Corner and the Radio Tower.  The Quiz Campaign sequence is now one of my favorite FireGold moments.  DM's Quiz Lady voice cracks me up every time I hear it, haha.  By the way, I WENT TO INVADERCON II!  =D

Also, we at FireGold, Inc. would like to congratulate our good friends and inspiration to start FireGold, the Red Squirtle, for 3 years of awesome amazingness!  There has never been a dull moment listening to your material.  Thanks so much for the many laughs you've given us and special thanks to you for mentioning us on your 3rd Anniversary special.  Much appreciated!

Now, onto some news!  We have something special planned for this year's Halloween.  Chances are that it'll scare the crap out of some of you.  Recording this S.O.B should be interesting, to say the very least.  Expect that and Episode 9 in the upcoming weeks!

And, yeah!  That wraps it up!  Thank you all again for your support and taking the time to read our blog posts!

An Update!

Hey, everybody!  Well, it's definitely been a while since I've updated you all on FireGold, Inc.'s activity.  The reason why we haven't released new episodes is mainly because of school and work that came up during the summer.  With the new college semester in full swing for most of us, it's going to be more difficult to release anything in the foreseeable future.  However, we hope to have at least one episode out for you guys very soon.  With any luck, you'll hear a new episode from us within the next couple of weeks.  If it takes longer than that, we apologize.  I'd like to thank you all for your understanding and patience during this rather busy time.

Now, onto some news!  Episodes 8 and 9 should be out within the next few weeks.  We've almost got everything recorded.  We can't wait for you to hear them!  Also, expect something very special very soon...

Awesome News!

Hey, there, FireGold fanatics!  PAPAYA here, and it's been quite a while, perhaps a bit too long.  Now that it is finals week (for me at least) and the semester is nearly over, I bring forth to you some news!

We are hoping to have a new episode or two up for you all before our one-year anniversary on June 24.  Once DM and Arch Canine finish their semester one week after I do, we hope to record some new material soon thereafter.  As for the anniversary date itself, we have something planned for it and it's currently in the works right now!  We also want to do one more thing for our anniversary but we can't seem to figure out what.  That's where you come in!  If you all have something you'd want for us to do (another video game battle, a Q&A, an audio recap of our first year, etc.), be sure to let us know in the comments below!

Now, onto something else that is very awesome.  If any of you are Invader ZIM fans and you have not heard of InvaderCON, it is exactly what it sound like.  It's a convention, entirely devoted to the almighty Invader ZIM series!  It'll be in Los Angeles, CA, (specifically Torrence, CA) on July 28-29 (Sat. and Sun.).  The voice actors of ZIM, GIR, Dib, and Gaz will be there, as well as one of the writers, artists, and post producers.  And, to make it all even more awesome, the creator of Invader ZIM himself, Jhonen Vasquez, will also be there (was not there last year in Atlanta at the inaugural event)! What does this have to do with us?  Well, as of this moment, I, PAPAYA, will be attending this convention!  No word yet on the others but, if that changes, we'll be sure to let you all know!  So, if you can and want to meet me and enjoy some Invader ZIM madness along with me and many others from different states, all the important information is in that little link below.  CLICK ON IT NOW, YOU FILTHY HUMANS!

And, that's all for now!  Until next time, fanatics, take care and we'll see you...or talk to you...in character...very soon!

Episodes 6 and 7 Write-Ups!

Hey there, fans!  Episodes 6 and 7 are now out and I think that these are our best episodes yet.  The addition of BUM DH has really helped make a positive difference to our series.  With that, let's dive in and talk about them.

Episode 6 was a big one for us.  Since this was the episode with the Rocket Grunts, it was important that all 4 of us were there to record.  Luckily, we all were able to make it.  We start with Gold approaching the first Grunt blocking the Slowpoke Well.  Since I was already doing Gold's voice, I decided to make the Grunt sound like Rex from Napoleon Dynamite so they wouldn't sound similar at all.  Boy, after a while, my throat was sore as hell.  When Gold finally listenes to the first Grunt, he finally arrives to Azalea Town.  Immediately we get the sense that something fishy is going on since a woman notices that the Slowpoke are missing and another Grunt acts very suspiciously.  Since Gold is theoretically still a little kid, he would pretend to be a detective and try to solve this mysterious mystery.  This little gag was inspired by Ash doing a similar thing in one of the anime's first season episodes.  Once he gets to Ol' Kurt's place, he spoils it for our hero and tells us that the suspicious looking official person guys are, in fact, Team Rocket!  He goes off and tries to stop them but hurts his back in the process.  From here, Gold battles "Rex Kwon Do" Rocket, "Jessie" Rocket, "Squidward" Rocket, and "AHHNOLD" Rocket.  After a few setbacks in each battle, Gold comes out victorious and helps get rid of Team Rocket.  Kurt then gives Gold a lure ball and reminds him that he'll always be there for him should he want some more balls in the future.  Then, we get something that I had been thinking about for the longest time, which was giving Fat Guy a real name.  Thus, we find out the truth behind the story of the guy who is fat.  It turns out that Fat Guy's real name is Carl Wheezing!  We though this name would fit him the most because, much like Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron, he is fat, caring, friendly, and has an unhealthy obsession with something (with Pokemon Black and White to Wheezer's obsession with llamas).  Unfortunately for Carl, the story behind the guy who is fat's parents may never be told.

Episode 7 was another big one.  Gold was now able to enter the second gym and challenge the gym leader.  After getting past the twins and two bug catchers with no problem, he reaches Bugsy.  To be honest with you guys, it had been a really long time since I actually played the second generation games so I was shocked to re-discover that the second gym leader was named Bugsy.  This made me laugh so hard since the Red Squirtle Squad actually had a character named Bugsy in their series.  So, it was only right that we have Alex voice Bugsy (since he kind of owed us for not being able to voice Oak for us in the first episode, don't tell him I told you that).  Thanks again to Alex and Taco Man for lending their voices to us, we really appreciate it.  Gold defeats Bugsy and earns his second badge.  Bugsy is defeated and pretty much doesn't earn respect.  To quote the late great Rodney Dangerfield (kind of), "he gets no respect at all!  No respect!"  That was the incentive for the title of the episode.  Then, as if the gym battle was enough, Silver appears and challenges Gold again to a battle.  This battle was pretty hard fought compared to their first encounter.  It's also the first time Gold was close to losing his first battle.  It also reveals the first secret of many of Gold:  He can speak Spanish!  O.o...

As for the second installment of Silver's Monologue Adventures, it was not scripted.  Draftmaster just hit the record button and began making it happen off the top of his head, with me filling in for the characters he was not the voice of.  Silver encounters the Farfetch'd in the Ilex Forest and fails to capture it three times.  A lot more epic than the first installment, to say the least.

That's pretty much it!  As for the next episodes, I'm going to predict that we'll have one done around spring break time.  Until then, enjoy these episodes, keep up the support and spread the word about our series!

Happy New Year! ...And other news!

Happy New Year, FireGold fanatics!   As 2012 kicks off, we bring along some important news!

This past week, the Red Squirtle Squad came in contact with us and they presented an idea to do a crossover episode with them!  Being big fans of theirs (as I'm sure a lot of you are, as well), it was an honor to do this episode with them.  We came up with the episode in only a few hours.  It's pretty self-explanatory as far as the plot goes...or is it?  How, exactly, do they end up in America?  Hmm....funny story, as Brock says.  One thing that cracks me up in this one is how obvious our microphone quality differs from theirs.  This will probably be the last time I use this microphone I got a while back since you couldn't really hear what I said unless you turned the volume up.  A pretty awesome episode nonetheless.  Thanks again to the Red Squirtle Squad for giving us the opportunity to do this!

Now, onto our own series.  If things aren't too hectic, we should begin recording Episode 6 in a matter of days.  We will try to have it ready for you before the next semester of college begins.

Until then, blog you all later!
